The STEVEDORE sideloading semitrailer is ideally suited to handling ISO containers at lightly used road/rail transfer yards where the cost of expensive fixed gantries or heavy forklift trucks is not justified. There is also no need for seperate vehicles for transporting containers by road. The UK legislation which allows a gross vehicle weight of 44 tonnes for travel to and from rail transfer yards offsets the additional unladen weight of the STEVEDORE. With the STEVEDORE one person can collect a container at a transfer yard and deliver it to a destination where it can be grounded for ease of emptying or stacking for storage.
