The COMPACT is a versatile heavy duty recovery unit specifically developed to undertake all military recovery tasks. It may be fitted to any suitable heavy truck chassis.
A casualty can be either suspended or support towed for backloading. The extendable underlift boom and wide range of lifting bars and forks permit all types of wheeled and many tracked vehicles to be towed. Over 400 COMPACT units are in service worldwide with armed forces in the UK, Singapore and Ireland.

The COMPACT has a 25 tonne line pull hydraulic winch and two anchor spades enabling pulls of 50 tonnes to be made for recovering heavy wheeled and treacked vehicles. A variety of front winches for self-recovery can be supplied with pulls up to 15 tonnes. The 15 tonne lift double extension telescopic boom fully slewing hydraulic crane can be used for unloading the casualty prior to backloading. It is also invaulable as a field workshop crane for handling MBT power packs. The two extendable stabilizers together with the anchor spade/stiff legs provide excellent stability.
